Overview

From Ragusa to SiracusaWe start climbing again on the Altopiano (plateau) Ibleo enjoying a beautiful view over Ragusa, this countryside is one of the most beautiful in Sicily, the second climb of the day leads us to the ancient village of Palazzolo Acreide, then a long and gradual descent from the hills to the orchards of the Syracuse countryside, to the bastions on Ortigia island, an ancient Greek settlement that has given rise to the most powerful Greek colony in the Mediterranean. Ortigia, in just a square kilometer of extension, combines a number of impressive palaces and monuments, including the magnificent Duomo di Siracusa (Cathedral of the Nativity of Most Holy), a building of rare interest in incorporating the ancient Temple of Athena. An aperitif on the ancient walls, facing the sunset over the sea, and a dinner in one of the city's finest restaurants, close the day and our fantastic tour across Sicily. |
