-> DAY-TO-DAY PROGRAMME <-

Day 1 – Arrival

Arrival by airplane into Alghero Airport. A short transfer will take you to your 4 star hotel at Porto Conte nearby. After checking in you will have time to freshen up before attending our welcome meeting and complimentary bike fitting session. If you plan to arrive early, you can take a quick dip in the Mediterranean or go out for a short afternoon ride to Capo Caccia, Sardinia’s westernmost tip. In the evening, a dinner highlighting local specialties, will be provided.
Hotel Punta Negra – Alghero (HB)

Day 2 – Alghero loop ride (50 km, +300 m.)

On the first day of the training camp we will ride a 50km loop ride over mostly flat and slightly rolling terrain, taking you from Porto Conte to the old mining village of Argenteria. We will cycle on quiet roads through cultivated fields and rough Mediterranean shrubland. After returning to the hotel we will head out for a 10km run on quiet rural roads that will take us along the coast to Bombarde beach and back again. An ocean swim in the crystalline waters of the bay right across the road from the hotel will round out our training day.
Hotel Punta Negra **** – Alghero (HB)

Day 3 – Alghero to Fordongianus & transfer to Artizo (120 km, +1800 m.)

After an early morning run we head off on a 100km bike ride to the ancient town of Fordongianus. This route takes us along one of Sardinia’s most beautiful coastal roads past the old Spanish capital of Alghero to the pretty medieval town of Bosa. After a quick lunch near the river banks of the Temo River, we will climb up to the hamlet of Santu Lussurgiu on the Basalt Plateau of the Monti Ferru area. From here a long descent takes us to the ancient town of Fordongianus, known for its thermal baths. There will be time to relax in the thermal pools before transferring by van to the verdant village of Aritzo in the Gennargentu Mountain Range where we will stay in a luxurious country hotel. The hotel’s gym room is at your disposal for a stretching and fitness session before sitting down to a luxurious dinner.
Hotel Sa Muvara **** – Aritzo (HB)

Day 4 –Aritzo to Arbatax (160 km, +2500 m.)

Today’s long bike ride takes us from Aritzo in the Gennargentu Mountains all the way up north to the wild Supramonte and then south again into the Ogliastra Region. Our route circles the highest peaks of the island, taking us to the bandit village of Orgosolo with its socially and politically inspired murals and then further towards the vertical cliff faces of the Sardinian East Coast. In order to reach our destination we will be climbing the Genna Silana Pass (1000 m a.s.l.). Winding up and down the SS125 main road offers breath taking views of the craggy peaks and deeply eroded valleys of this part of Sardinia. After arriving at the hotel we will get changed for a celebratory swim in the sea.
Hotel La Bitta **** – Arbatax (HB)

Day 5 – Arbatax loop ride (50 km, +800 m.)

We will start our day with a 50km loop ride from the hotel, taking us up into the mountains of the Ogliastra Region and back down an exhilarating descent to the coast. The rest of the day will be divided between a running and a swimming session.
Hotel La Bitta **** – Arbatax (BB)

Day 6 – Arbatax to Muravera (120 km, +2000 m.)

After leaving Arbatax we will cycle parallel to the coast on flat land to the towns of Bari Sardo and Cardedu, after which our route will take us up to the hill top town of Jerzu, well known for its wine production. From Jerzu a short climb brings us to a little pass where the road leads down towards the villages of Perdasdefogu and Escalaplano. Another 50km on flat and gently down-grading roads take us to our hotel near Costa Rei. Here we will enjoy a running or swimming session.
Hotel Veraclub – Costa Rei (HB)

Day 7 – Muravera to Cagliari (60 km, +800 m.)

A morning run will be followed by a 60 km ride to our luxury hotel situated on the south coast near the islands’ capital town of Cagliari. We will have the choice of staying close to the coast for a longer but more gradual ride, or head inland on the old SS125 main road winding its way through several beautiful gorges before leading down to the coast again. After reaching the hotel we will have a last swimming session. The rest of the day is for luxuriously relaxing while reliving the wonderful experience of your Sardinian training camp.
