Omu Axiu ***

Fascinating late 19th century atmosphere
Omu Axiu is a living museum that protects ancient yet still clever traditions: starting from the building itself, you'll learn about ancient construction methods, like the use of "ladiri", unbaked bricks made of hardened mud and straw, in the kitchen you can learn how to prepare fragrant sardinian bread or some plates of our tradition. The house has a rural charme, with a wide porch (sa lolla) that overlooks the courtyard dominated by an ancient well and a magnificent secular olive tree, and hosts a real museum showing the life of its family. At the hotel you can buy Sardinian artisan crafts (ceramics, hand woven textiles, jewellery, knives) and foods (cold cuts, wines, oil, cheeses).
The Hotel

The hotel is an "Albergo diffuso", meaning that rooms are on another building walking distance from the main reception. It has 9 double rooms and 2 mini suites, furnished with typical Sardinian fabrics, are comfortable and spacious. Lunch and dinner are traditional pasta, local meats cooked on a spit or boiled. Do not miss the red wine (cannonau and monica). During your stay you can take cooking courses, visit the main archaeological sites such as the impressive Nuraghe Arrubiu, take a tour on the nearby Flumendosa lake, hike and bike on the trails of the area.
